My first coloring book! I put it together with 45 hand-drawn mandalas that I made from scratch with just one pen and a lot of paper; and my favorite quotes, those that I've gathered along the way.
Drawing mandalas started out for me as a hobbie: the first time I saw one I was very curious about how it was made. That’s how I started and then I couldn’t stop.
Mandalas have a special meaning to me, far beyond the spiritual or religious connotations. They are extremely complex figures but they all have something in common: they start with a small circle from which you start drawing around . This is, in my opinion, a metaphor for life itself. We start being small dots in the universe and it depends on ourselves and our own creativity to build our own being, as human beings that are in constant evolution and self- improvement.
There’s a quote on the opposite page for every mandala, they can be song lyrics or famous author quotes. All of these quotes are my personal favorites. I even wrote some of them. All of them have had a special meaning at some point in my life. Some of them are just the combination of beautiful words that I think are worth sharing. I invite you to use that -almost- blank space to draw your own mandalas.
I’ve never used a ruler or guide lines on my paper, that means my mandalas are completely handmade, so they are perfectly assymetric, a quality that makes them different from any other.
It’s possible that you find a line that’s not the same as another one, or some patterns with an odd number of pieces. Please don’t get frustrated by this. Imperfections are part of life and real beauty is full of them. That’s part of the essence of this project.
